CD Description : Listen & Play!" Vol. 1 Ed Yamaguchi & Tokyo Ventures Plays The Ventures I
From Ventures numbers I thought I'd perfectly copied, I suddenly started hearing “sounds” and “rhythmic patterns” I'd never noticed before! The amazing thing about the Ventures is this: While their melodies and structures seem simple enough for amateurs to copy at first glance, in reality, their performance style contains complex elements that even professional musicians struggle to replicate when they seriously tackle them. When forming “Tokyo Ventures,” I discarded all preconceptions from my amateur days and challenged myself to copy them anew with a fresh mindset. This CD (Ventures I&II) features six songs from the standard amateur band repertoire, three songs for intermediate players, and for advanced players, we've included an electric guitar version of “Kyoto no Koi ~ Paint it Black,” originally performed live by the Ventures using a sitar guitar. We aimed to create a version blending the best elements of both the live and recorded versions.
