CD Description : The Ed Sullivan Show, a very popular programme that aired on CBS in the US for 23 years from 1948. The programme featured stars and figures of the moment not only from the world of music, but also from film/theatre/sports/opera/musicals/acrobats/ballet, and was presented by Sullivan in his own unique style, On 9 February 1964, shortly after 'I Want to Hug You' became the first number one song in the US, The Beatles appeared on the programme for the first time, appeared on this programme for the first time. The broadcast, which marked their first US landing, was the highest-rated programme in US history with a 72% audience share. The following 1965 show, their fourth appearance, was the last time the Beatles were filmed performing live on television.
